    High alkiline level
What can I do, if from the urine test strip I am using, I have a high alkiline result.

Where did you get the test strip? From your doctor?

I purchased the strips with the pharmacy department at a Safeway store. They are: Maker: Bayer, product is: Ketostix. I have used them for about one month, using approximately 8 to 10 of them. The results were good before today and now it is showing a very high alkiline reading. What can I do to get the high alkiline level down.

Out of curiosity, why are you testing your urine? Your answer will give me some insight as to what my answer will be.

Well, a couple of reasons: 1. I am a diabetic and I was hospitaized about 3 weeks ago with Diabetic Ketoacidosis, perhaps as a result of having a severe cas of the flue for 3 days of vomiting and diariaha, being unable to have proper intake of food and water. Second: I just wanted to know where I was at. I had noticed that my finger ring was turning my skin black and I thought I was perhaps too acidic. And today I am too alkiline!

Thanks for the answer. Makes it easier for me to answer you.

Alkalinity and acidity will fluctuate with food intake, fluid output and the like.

If you tend to get ketoacidosis you need to be testing for ketones rather than alkalinity and acidity.
