    Iodine Numbers
Does anyone out there know how to calculate iodine numbers? If so please explain it to me like I was a two year old, then maybe I might get it!
    The data I have is:
The weight of the fat sample in grams
Amount of thiosulphate required in ml
Blank-fat source titration value in ml
    Doe that even make sense!
all the equations I've found so far do not use any of the data I have, so someone please please help me! :o

Iodine number is the measure of unsaturation ooof a fat or oil. I guess it could also be determined using the sodium thiosulfate. Calculate the equivilents of sodium thiosulfate used, and multiply it be the equivalent weight of iodine to give the weight of iodine it would have taken. Use that in your equations.

Ok, I get the general idea of what you mean but I'm still not really sure how to work it out (DOH!)
Here's some of the data I have:

Blank, 0 grams of fat, 55.5ml of thiosulphate required, blank-fat source titration value 0ml

Corn oil, 0.16 grams, 44.4ml of thiosulphate required, blank-fat source titration value 11.1ml

    (thiosulphate is 0.1M solution)

Using these values is there any chance, you could show me how to do it out with a worked example. (I'll beg if need be!)
    Cheers :)

    (sodium thiosulphate(blank-test sample)*12.7)/ (10*weight of fat soln.)

What is 12.7 here in this formula and is this formula for all sorts of oil and fat?
