Sure. Cut to the width you want, reinforce the edges with a couple 2X4's. Then run a couple 2X4 diagonally to prevent sagging and you have a gate.

Yes to Harold. I've installed them whole. You will need to be sure to reinforce the section so it doesn't sag. Alternatively, you can cut the section in half but would still need to reinforce.
