Just installed a new faucet/drain in one of our bathrooms. It is a pedestal sink. Saw real quick that the drain install was going to involve working blind since I couldn't see behind the pedestal, so I decided to remove the pedestal, do the install, and then put it back. Seemed to work pretty well, and the thought occurred to me if you pros would have done it the same way. Is that the usual way to go, or would you have just worked it "by feel"?

I wall hang the top, just tighten a bit, support the sides with 2X4, hook everything up, check for leaks, slide the bottom in and bolt everything together. It is almost impossible to tighten all the P-trap nuts with the pedestal in place.

How about an existing sink? That's what I have. Do you pull the pedestal for that?

You could support the sink and pull the pedestal. Might have to loosen the wall bolts. Is the pedestal bolted to the floor?
Most You Tube videos show hanging the sink and then placing the pedestal.

Yeah. It was bolted to the floor. I was able to pull the pedestal without much trouble, but I was really careful with the sink just held by the two loosened bolts. I made sure not to lean on it in any way. Sure was a lot easier to plumb everything with that out of the way. I thought that you guys might get so used to just working "blind" (with, in this case, the pedestal still in the way) that you might not go to the trouble to move it.
