Can someome tell me how many plumbers it takes to perform a dsw smoke test to determine a gas leak? Is it possible for this test to be done by only one person and accurately detect the source of a leak, if any, when you are inspecting an entire attic, all bthrm fixtures, etc. I am skeptical of the job this plumber did. Need to make sure he performed it thoroughly and accurately to ensure I was not duped out of a lot of money
Do you mean a DWV (Drain, Waste and Vent) smoke test?
What is your concern? Google "dwv smoke test" and read.
Shouldn't take but one person. Artificial smoke is put in plumbing system to identify if and where any leaks might be. Vent pipe on the roof would have to be plugged. The smoke just enables you to see any leaks.
When you say "gas leak", do you mean Natural Gas leak ? Or Sewer Gas leak ? Please, specify

Yes, I suppose I mean dwv. The purpose was to check for possible sewer gas leak in the house. He went onto the roof of the house and lit smoke cartridges while using some type of hvac hose. He claimed the house and attic would fill with smoke if there were a gas leak present. Reading your response makes me think it possibly wasn't done correctly.Quote:
