When I turn my water on , no matter for how long , as soon as it is turned on the pump starts screeching.

Is the pump cycling? Sounds like a bearing is bad and impeller hits the pump casing or a motor bearing but it should go off when the pump shuts down. Could be a stuck check valve or partially closed gate valve too.
