I don't know Islamic law, but this would depend on where you live. In some areas of the world this is illegal.

Doctors here do this all the time and in some circumstances it may be illegal. However asking your local religious leader may be your way to go, as well as a local legal expert like a lawyer. Most doctors know a lawyer, or have one.
