To buy or not to buy
I'll be meeting a woman I've been emailing now for almost a month for the first time. I really like her and I think she likes me even though she says we mustn't have expectations though she loves my personality, and she has a little boy who likes pirates. My question, should I buy her a gift, I know some of what she likes, and should I buy something for her son? I found a 3D pirate puzzle for kids. Is that cool or just weird?

I would just for now, buy the Pirate Puzzle for the boy. Then later, do "what ever makes your boat float".

A gift for the girl and her child you have been talking to is a thoughtful gesture. So it's cool, but don't get carried away...

I would heed her words. That would be cool too.

Just remember that if it doesn't work out, the hurt will be compounded by any amounts you spent. Take it SLOW

You have only known her through email, and because this is the first time actually meeting her, I would not give gifts, to her, or her son.

It is more likely than not, she wouldn't be giving a gift in kind, so it might make for an uncomfortable situation.

Wait and see how it works out, and when you know it would be both appropriate, and acceptable to her, then offer small gifts.

I see no harm in giving the kid a gift, that is better than meeting for the first time and going there empty handed. Just me.
