Flase-positive results on the EtG test for alcohol
I have Schizoaffective Disorder, and my Doctor told me I could have a few beers here and there and it would not hurt anything, but around Christmas I got pulled over for doing one of those "rolling stop" things coming home. They said I didn't act drunk and were going to let me go home, if I could call someone to come and drive me home; but, my Mom was asleep and did not hear the phone when I called. They asked if I would come in and do a blood alcohol test, and I was just barely over the legal limit, so now I have a one year probation with no alcohol that may be consumed at all.

I am concerned because I take some pretty heavy meds like Risperdal (a psychoactive drug), and Valproic Acid, and Clonazepam and Doxepin. All these are legal and prescribed to me for my condition. Don't know if Texas looks for EtG or what test they yse, but wondering if any of my meds might be able to produce a false-positive on their tests. Would anyone know?

    Thanks!:;)

Your doctor told you it was okay to drink? NO it is NOT okay to drink on these meds.

How often to you take the Risperdal? And in what form? PO, PRN, IM? Daily, weekly, bi-weekly?

You should not be drinking ANY alcohol on ANY of these meds.

If you would prefer, PM me and we can "talk."

You definitely should not be drinking on A-N-Y of the med's you are taking. I have at one time or another taken all the med's you have mentioned, and any doctor who tells you that you can drink beer is one stupid motherlover. Mixing alcohol with these medications can kill you. D-O-N-T drink on them.
