    Wisdom Tooth Removal
    Good Evening,
My husband had four wisdom teeth removed last Wednesday, April 4th. One of his teeth, lower left, was growing in sideways and the oral surgeon had to remove a small piece of bone and possibly remove the tooth in pieces. On Monday, his disolvable stitches came out of the bottom of his mouth. He is not in any pain, he is not bleeding, but the left side has not closed up the way the right side did. The sides of the wound are smooth, but it is a deep incision and we see something greyish inside the wound when he opens his mouth wide. Should we be concerned?

I would have him go back into the dental surgon that did this, and have them check, it is very possible the stitches did not hold long enough to hold, it never hurts to be safe.

I got my 4 wisdom teeth pulled, I only got stitches for the top part but I see the same greyish thing with holes inside the hole.
Its gross but my dentist said it looked fine

I have just finished getting all four of my wisdom teeth pulled also. It looks the same in the cavity where one of my teeth are, which apparently is normal.

What you are seeing is all part of the healing process. The socket is probably deeper due to the position of the impacted tooth. Tell your husband to keep rinsing gently with warm salt water to keep the socket clean. In time the socket will close and feel just like the others.
