You can go to your local city or county records hall and do a title search.

If you bought the land, there should have been a title search prior to closing. Is there a particular issue? As CDAD notes, go to your city or county deed / records dept and search there. Bring a tax statement, it will have parcel and lot#.

There may not be a "complete" history, but there will be a history up to a point of who owned the land, (at the deed office, court house, probate court, or what ever government office does deeds in your area)

For construction, the building and code department of your city (if in the city) should have a record going back some time on any building or remodeling or additions done to the property.

These will go back to the point where records are keep for those areas.\

As noted, if you bought the property, this would have (or should have) already been done, prior to buying the property.

Is there something specific, you are looking for ?

What sort of history are you looking for?

Are you looking for additions to the property, building permits, work done, any issues with the house itself?

Or are you looking for any deaths in the house, who lived there, etc?
