My husband been running a fever and has a bad cough for over a week and tried every OTC medicine and nothing is working what should we do?

Has he stayed home and indoors that whole time? Is he warm and clothed in all sorts of extra warmth like a hat and scarf and sheepskin slippers indoors? Is he mostly drinking warm broth and other warm liquids, or watered down juices? Is there a humidifier if the heat is on and is dry, but is the humidifier clean and free of mold?

THERE IS NO MEDICINE FOR THE COLD OR FLU*, because they are viruses. So you do the above. THEN you go to your doctor, who has his health history. We don't. We don't even know if he is a 300 lb smoking 70 year old or a 20 something athlete in his prime. A cough caused by a virus can turn bacterial.

Tamiflu can be used by prescription when flu symptoms are 2 days or less, in some people. It may or may not work. It is not for colds.

I'd say it was past time to go to visit a doctor by the third day of a moderate fever... immediately if it's a high fever.
