Standing water in sewer clean out
Is standing water just below sewer clean out normal?

Not in my house would that be normal. It would mean get out the 60 foot snake before whatever was clogging things up downpipe got worse. Where is your cleanout located and is there free flow when the toilet is flushed?

As stated above, you have most-likely blocked sewer. Also, there is a possibility that your sewer line developed a "low point."

I suggest you have your main sewer snaked first. Also, ask the technician to give you sewer video inspection to make sure you have no root growth inside the pipe.

If it is sagging pipe, you will have to excavate that section of pipe and install new piece of pipe to re-establish proper slope

    Hope that helps

Hmmmm... I don't know here guys!

In my area some homes still have whole house traps... water would show up just under the "sewer cleanout" (or cleanouts if a double clean out whole house trap... see image), and in that case and be perfectly normal.

I'd like to know if the drain line is backing up or exactly why Kitzie is asking the question.
