My period wasn't as normal. What's wrong?
I got my period on the 17th but it was different because it only lasted until the 21st which is really really unusual because it usually lasts longer around 7-10ish days and I also didn't even have cramps as I usually do. Is there something wrong with me?

If that was your first unusual period then you are very young. Every woman has unusual periods from time to time throughout her life until menopause.

Most likely not, but then of course does not mean it is not. Most women have off periods, some even miss a month sometimes,

What other problems are you having beyond this?

How old are you? When did you start menstruating? What sort of birth control do you use, is it a shot, a daily pill? Are you sexually active?

There are many things that can throw off your period. Pregnancy, stress, weight gain, weight loss, exercise, illness, medication, and more.

A bit more information might allow us to offer a valid guess about what's going on, but sadly no one can diagnose online. If you're really concerned then you should see your doctor.

How old are you? How long have you been using birth control pills. There may be nothing wrong and many things can affect a woman's menstrual cycle. Pregnancy is but one thing.

Did you miss taking the pill completely, or did you double up the next day when you realized you had missed it?

Missing pills can throw things off. That's definitely a possibility as to why you're having a weird period.

As for pregnancy, that's always possible. No form of birth control is 100%, there are people all over the world, a few on this site, and many more that I know personally, that were on three forms of birth control, including the pill, all used correctly, and still got pregnant. So don't discount pregnancy.

Having said that, you didn't miss a period, so pregnancy is unlikely. You had an off period, and it's more likely that that was because of the missed pill.

I'd wait until your next period, make sure to take your pill every day, the same time every day (it's more effective that way) and see what happens with your next period. If it's off too, then I'd talk to your doctor.

But realize that this is just advice, and opinion. If you choose to follow that advice, that's up to you. If you're really worried about it, a visit to your doctor is never a bad idea.

    Good luck, and Merry Christmas.
