I'm new to the Website. I just surfed around looking for a chat forum and this looked like the best place. I have a concern about my pup and would really appreciate anyone's feedback!
I just recently got 10 week old puppy (Weimaraner).
I have noticed that he has what looks like a protruding bone in the middle/top of his head behind his ears... which I later learned was called his occipital bone. This makes his head look extremely cone-shaped. I have seen other puppies with this sort of shaped head but his is REALLY big and sticks out a lot. Is this normal and something he will grow into?

I don't know the answer but I had to mention that is the cutest dog-gone dog I have ever seen.

I think there is another name for it too, but in the picture, his is the largest I remember seeing. You should have him in for shots before long. Talk to the vet about it. You might also talk to the breeder about it.

Great dogs. I had one growing up. I am not surprised he is a handful. VERY active dogs. Need a lot of exercise and hands on attention. They need to be constantly engaged in an activity. I have never seen a bone quite so protuding as yours has. I don't know if that means anything, but I wouldn't ignore it. I agree with labman. When you bring him in for his check up and shots, you need to have a discussion with your vet about this. Make sure he is given a thorough going over. Post back and let us know what the vet says.
