I do not know about plumbing however we do not have any pressure and no water in the kitchen sink and no pressure for any other sink, not upstairs or down. I need to know how to trouble shoot.

Well, my first response is did you pay your water bill? Just joking. But, it may have been overlooked. I have forgotten to pay mine at least once.
Here are some ideas:
Check water main inside house. Maybe a child in your home has turned off the water.
See if neighbors are having the same problem.
Where I live, when the city comes and flushes the fire hydrants, no one in the neighborhood on the same line as the hydrant has any water pressure.
Call the city and see if there was a break in one of the water mains.
If you are in a rural area and using a well then check everything that supplies water to your home.
