I have a late 2008 white 13 inch macbook. All of a sudden there is no sound on it. It makes the usual sound when you turn on the mac, but after that it plays no sound at all itunes, osx, etc. I check the sound settings and it shows no output hardware connected. The internal speaker is working because the power on sound plays when turning the mac on. What could have caused this, and what is the best resolution to restore the audio to this particular macbook?

It sounds like the driver for the speakers has gotten corrupt. When you plug in your ear phones does it still work? IE, is it just your laptop speakers or is it your sound all together? We know your speakers work. We need to figure out were in chain your sound got broken.
