    Light fixture
    Hello

I am trying to install a light fixture in my bedroom
I have 3 wires on a ceiling: Black, White and Orange and the same 3 wires in wall outlet.
Light fixture has only 2 wires: Black and White (+ground wire) When I connect black to black and white to white the light fixture is working but I can not shut it off on wall switch, So I definitely need to use an orange wire some how. Please advise.

    Thanks in advance!

Where are you located US or UK?

What wires are connected to the switch?

I'm in US. It used to be a fan speed control switch but we've never used it because we actually did not have any fan ever installed. By the way the orange and black wires were connected to that fan speed control switch. I tried to connect orange and black to the light fixture and of course it didn't work.

    Thank you

OK, then the orange is really red.
You said you have 3 wires in the ceiling. Do you have only 3 wires in the ceiling?
Do you have only the fan control switch at the switch box or is there another switch there?
Do you have only 3 wires in the switch box?
