Can a convicted felon hunt with a compound bow in KY
The only restriction on felons mentioned by the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources, in the Kentucky Hunting and Trapping Guide, is on firearms.
p. 11:
CONVICTED FELONSA person convicted of a felony isprohibited from possessing or huntingwith a firearm in Kentucky. The prohibitionon handguns applies to thoseconvicted after Jan. 1, 1975. The prohibitionon other firearms applies to thoseconvicted after July 15, 1994. (See KRS527.040 for more details.)
If I were you, I would find a prison blog. I have read stories of POs who don't want felons hunting with anything that shoots, regardless of the law, and they will harass you no end. Better yet, tell your PO your plans. No need to be obsequious but still tell him, and make sure no one you hunt with has a firearm.
If there are no further restrictions due to parole or probation, and they can get a hunting license for this, yes.
If on probation or parole, they should discuss this with their PO
