    Good enough for gaming?
    Information about my laptop:
    Window 8.1
Processor: Intel core i5 4210u @ 1.70GHZ with turbo boost up to 2.7 GBZ.
Nvidia GeForce 840m with 2GB dedicated VRAM.
    8 GB DDR3 L MEMORY
    1000 GB HDD.
How good is my laptop for gaming?

Being a laptop it isn't going to be as good as a desktop because of what it needs to have and do to be a compact portable machine. What are these things? The cooling system is going to throttle back the processor a bit, only give you the horsepower when you need it. Everything is going to be geared towards low consumption while maintaining a semblance of performance. You might not get as much as you think you should from it though.

It will game. It won't be as good as a $5K+ gaming rig, but it will work.

Anything will run Solitaire... it all depends on WHAT games you intend to run and expect what sort of frame rates and at what resolutions.

I can think of many situations that this isn't enough... and quite a few that it is.

The question as asked....is way too broad. Almost like asking "I have a kitchen....can I make anything I want in it."
