    Will it be right to say √-36=±6i? If no then please tell why.

    √-36= 6i

    since -36 can be written as -1*6*6 or -1*6^2
    therefoe \sqrt(-36)=\sqrt(-1*6^2)
    =6\sqrt(-1)
    =6i {since \sqrt(-1)=i}

    You are commenting on a post that is almost a year old. The correct answer is as shown in earlier posts. Rememeber that -36 can also be written as .
