Replacing 1/2" water line to outside hydrant with 1"
I want to replace my 1/2" water line to a 1" pipe for better volume and also I think there is a leak in the pipe. Can I go from the 1/2" line in my basement to a 1" line and have good results or would I need to tap into the main 1" line from the well?

Taping in to the 1" line would be much more work and expense as it is on the opposite side of the house.

The hydrant is about 550 ' from the house. I am also having to dig down 4' due to the frost line.

Need to tap into the 1" line to increase volume. Volume is restricted to the smallest pipe in the line.

Thanks. I was afraid that would be the answer, just hoping for an easier solution.
