Lite bulbs barely come on as though they're not getting enough electricity.

All new fans have wattage limiters in them. I can't remember the total but do not exceed what bulbs the manufacturer supplied. You may have a bad limiter. Some people by-pass the limiters. While we cannot tell you how, there are numerous You Tube videos.
