    Changing Ice Maker Tubing valve
Now has the old fashion saddle valve. Want to replace it will a sort of stop valve.
How does that work I see 1/4 for the tubing back to the fridge. But how do you tap into the main water line on the other end. Perhaps with some sort of copper fitting
    Or compress fitting?

Google "sharkbite ice maker kit (or shutoff valve)". These are sold at almost all home improvement stores and are simple PUSH FIT installation. Just cut the pipe and push the shark bite shutoff onto the pipe... super simple and easy to do.

Yes kits are definitely the way to go with your dilemma. You may want to look into another brand such as john guest ice maker kit, if the sharkbite one is not appealing.
