    Hospital Debt Bankruptcy
I received a letter dated March 2005 regarding a debt I owe to a hospital. I have not lived at that resident since May 2005. I just received this letter March 2007, I called the collection agency to make payment arrangements. I was totally unaware of this debt in the amount of $250.00 I sent the agency a payment and they indeed cash the check. I sent another payment to them. I then received a letter stating I must appear in court on 5/18/07. I thought if a person is paying towards the debt, how can they still send you to court? Is there anyway to avoid going to court and not getting a judgement on my account?

Was it a letter or a summons? Once you are served you need to appear. Be sure to bring your cancelled check and all documents related to this issue.

I thank you for your response. This is a Warrant In Debt. Are they actually going to place a judgement on my account even though I am trying to pay this off?:(
