Noise created after changing ballcock in water tank
The ball cock in the tank in our attic has just been changed as we constantly had water dripping from our over flow pipe. Since it has been changed, every time water is run, the system makes a lot of noise, it sounds like the water it rushing in to the tank and occasional makes a noise which I can only describe like a ferry boats horn! Any ideas as to why it now makes so much noise and if anything can be done to help?

The ballcock either has some debris trapped in it or it has a loose washer.

Turn off the water, open up the ballcock and remove the seal. Briefly turn on the water to flush out the ballcock. Check to see that the screw holding the seal is tight and reassemble the ballcock.

It was probably debris that cause the old ballcock to not seal properly and cause the overflowing.

Also, CLOSE and OPEN the water valve under the toilet.

Milo, this a water tank in the attic, not a toilet.
