American Standard Platinum ZM
I just had an American Standard Platinum ZM a/c unit installed with the color touch screen thermostats. During my kitchen remodel, one of the workers smashed the touch screen. It's taking my a/c installer FOREVER to get me a replacement. Today it's 105º and I'd like to turn my a/c on!
He told me that until he can get it to me, I can hook up my old thermostat. I tried and it blew the fuse in the a/c unit.
In the touch screen I just have three terminals labeled D, R, B. They had white to D, Red to R and Green to B.
The a/c guy told me to hook up these wires to my old thermostat: R to Red, y to yellow, C to blue, W to white and G to green.
But at the AC unit, I have two sets of wires going to three terminals. From the thermostat is white to D, R to Red and green to B/C.
Then a black wire comes in from somewhere else split to D and B, and another wire with Green to B/C and White to D.
He told me to leave the wires alone at the AC, but when I hooked up the old thermostat and turned the AC on, it blew the fuse and sparked. So clearly something is wrong.
Can someone please help before we burn up?
