I have a Sears Featherlite Plus FL26. I was using it and the line got wrapped up, something gave way and then the trimmer head stopped spinning, but the engine kept running. Is there a shear pin or something in the shaft? Did something strip out?

Remove the head of the trimmer and inspect the flex drive line at both ends. It should just pullout. I suspect the shaft has sheared or rounded out the plastic head.

I was able to disconnect the engine side of the shaft. The line trimmer side however is locked in place and I cannot remove the cap. The flex shaft was sheard off at the trimmer end as I was able to pull the entire flex shaft out from the engine side. Thank you.
