How to fix a leaky spicket
My outside spigot is leaking and I have to turn it off from the basement... then go back down stairs to the basement the next day to turn it back on to water plants and grass and back down again to turn off... every time. It also leaks the whole time I'm using it and pushing down on the nozzle or if I have it attached to a sprinkler for the grass. It leaks from the exterior of our house where the spigot is... how can I fix the outside spigot without bringing in someone that will charge me a boat load of money?

Exactly where is it leaking from? From here like this, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cALQ3PR7k30, or where?

Spigots are inexpensive. I suggest you purchase new one and install it in place of the leaking one.

That is a great place for me to start, any suggestions on why my valve is leaking in the basement or how for me to fix this as well? Thank you in advance.

Are you speaking of the stop valve on the line to the spigot?

yes, I believe I am. Its located inside the house in the basement just on the otherside of where the spigot is that is on the outside of the house. The value that turns on the outside spigot in the basement is located at what would be the ceiling and is also leaking when turned on. Thank you in advance

Watch the video. The first thing shown is how to stop a leak around the stem.

Same thing applies to this valve.

Put a wrench on the packing nut and tighten slightly. The valve stem has a graphite material around it. When the packing nut is tightened it compresses the packing material and prevent leaks around the stem. As the valve is opened and closed the packing material wears away and water leaks out around the stem. Tightening the packing nut compresses the packing material more and stops the leak.

Don't over tighten. You will only cause the material to wear away faster and make the valve hard to open and close. Should only have to turn the nut about 1/2 to 1 turn.
