I just don't understand the previous posts. My situation: 3 bulb light kit @ with 1 W & 1 Blk wire... 1 blk & 1 W wire coming from fan as power source.. Switch has 3 wires, 1 red, 1 blk, & 1 blue. The switch is marked (L-1-2). The bulb W wires are twisted together & 2 of the blks together. Now what to do?

Well, you are not helping us with your description.

Normally, I expect to find two pull switches on the older style fans.

Switch #1 - Would be the fan power.
Switch #2 - Would be to the light kit.

Using the Black supply line in the ceiling, connect the black from Switch #1 and the Blue from Switch #2 to the black supply line. All White wires will connect to the white wire in the ceiling.

Under no circumstances are you to connect any bare (ground) wires to the White (Neutral / Return) conductor.

All bare ground wires or the green wire will connect to the bare copper ground in the ceiling.

It would really help if you could append a couple of pictures so we can see what you actually have.

    Well kid,

    L=line, 1=one light, 2= second light.

Connect the whites from the bulbs to the white from the fan.

Connect the black from the fan to the switch wire marked "L".

Connect the switch wire "1" to the single black wire to the bulbs.

Connect the switch wire "2" to the two blacks twisted together going to the bulbs.

Thank you HK, I think you're instructions are the ticket. Very basic, ABC. I will try the installation and get back with the results.

    W. Blk ________________ switch (blk #L)
    |__________ 3 bulb W together
2 bulb Blk together to __ switch (blue #2)
1 bulb Blk_____________ switch (red. #1)
The switch now works like this: I pull 2 lights stay on, 2 pulls the 2 lights flicker and stay on, 3rd pull no lights, 4th pull all off. The bulb with dlk up red #2 on the switch never comes on?
