Ceiling Fan has burning out motor smell?
We recently got a new ceiling fan for our living room and put the old one (not sure of brand - but not more than 3 years old) upstairs in a guest bedroom. Our realtor hooked it up at first and the breaker was flipping because he didn't have the wiring hooked up right. I called a handyman and he came and fixed the wiring problem. Since then if the fan is left on for about 10 minutes or more, I can smell a burning smell. I called the handyman back - he came out and checked the wires and everything looked good. I could smell the same smell with the ceiling fan off if I put my nose very close to where the motor would be. So I'm assuming it's the motor? Does this mean it is going to just go out soon? Is it a fire hazard? The smell seems to be a little less recently, but I want to be safe. Thoughts?
Thanks a bunch!
