    PO_4 is for phosphate
    SO_4 is for sulphate
    O ( or any other number of O) is generally oxide. It may be doixide or trioxide depending on the situation.
    ClO_4 is for chlorate
    NO_3 is for nitrate.

    Then, add the metal names in front. Sometimes, the valency of the metal must be put in roman numerals and put into brackets in case the metal has several valencies.

    Hope it helped!:)

    Well, that's too huge!! There nearly a countless number of covalent compounds... specially hydrocarbons which have so many chains! :eek:

    FePO4 = Iron (III) Phosphate or Ferric Phosphate
    HIO3 = Iodic acid
    FeO2 = something wrong here. The Fe would have to be Fe(IV). FeO is Ferrous Oxide, Fe2O3 is Ferric Oxide. Iron normally exists as Iron(III) or Iron(II), but not as Iron(IV).
    HIO2 = Iodous acid
