I have an 11 year old Kenmore dishwasher that turns on but hums when it is trying to engage. Does anyone know the issue? Sears was not very helpful.

?what engages? Water fills, float switch shuts off water, pump starts. Is that what you mean by engage? There are probably 200 different models of Kenmore Dishwashers. A Model # would help.
