I have a diversion and the diversion fees are in collections right now, I am wondering whether I should pay what I can. Or just wait to go to court and explain that I just recently got a job that can pay the fees.

You need to talk to the court or probation officer and find out. Since this is on diversion, they can cancel the diversion and impose sentence, if you do not pay this.
