She's not spayed. She will go into heat every 6 months or so. But brown discharge isn't the norm. What did the vet say?

Pyometra is a possibility. It is imperative that the dog receive immediate medical attention to rule this out. It is most common in older, unsprayed dogs and, if not treated immediately may result in the death of the dog very quickly. Of course there are other possible causes, but in view of the fact that this dog is 4 and has never been spayed, I think I wouldn't waste another day and get her to a vet.

    Hope this helps!
