    Bathroom sink drain pipe problem
I purchased an auger-snake and entered the drain pipe of bathroom sink. The auger- snake gets stuck at about 4 feet and it brings back soil. Did I hit a tree root? Any suggestions? House is 60 years old. Thanks

I don't know about a root, but you are in the soil somewhere and most likely have a broken pipe.

Possibly a trap of some kind... is a ptrap or drum trap present under the sink? If there is no trap above ground, then you could have a trap located underground and it has rotted out stopping your snake from moving forward... that or a simple break in the line as you ask about.

Let us know about the TRAP location and we can tell you more, OK?
