My Hampton Bay FAN-9T light turns on by itself when no other remote in our house is being used. I have to stand there and turn it off by remote sometimes over 20 times to get the light to stay off. We want the fan on but not the light. Nothing I've read online has helped. How do I make the light not come on by itself?

One of your neighbors probably has the same brand fan/light. The remote code for your fan/light is probably the same as your neighbors. Each time you turn the light off your neighbor probably turns it back on. You neighbor is probably wondering "Why won't this thing stay on?"

Yup and keep in mind you must change the code in the handheld (easy enough) but also change the code in the receiver (up inside the canopy)
