How come guys my age do not hit on me or seem interested in me in college?
Older guys (not really old, like maybe in their 30's or 40's) usually always compliment me or hit on me. I have heard from at least two older guys who have been older than me tell me that I am very beautiful. I mean, a lot of strangers tell me that I am pretty. One older guy even went as far as to stare me down. I am 19 and I am in college and the guys around my college do not seem interested in me. I see college guys with other women but they don't really hit on me or try to make a move. It makes me upset how my roommate has guys interested in her and not me. At least three guys have even hit on my roommate but they do not hit on me. It really hurts my self esteem to hear that my roommate has three guys chasing after her. I find myself comparing myself to her. I try to get involved and put myself out there around campus but nothing seems to happen. I am not into older guys and I would prefer to be with a guy who is near my age but the problem is that they do not even show that they like me. I do not get why older guys compliment me and hit on me while guys my age do not do those things?

Have you ever spoke to a guy at your school? You can you know.

Do you have guy friends? If you do, ask them what they think.

It is often more than looks, esp with the college boys, are you making eye contact, are you saying hi, are you in events or places they go. My friend goes to class, and goes to dorm, goes to eat, goes to corm, every day, and wonders why no one asks her out.

Older men are looking most likely just at physical beauty, or perhaps you appear more mature,

Stop comparing yourself to your room mate and don't tie your self esteem to how much attention you get from guys your age. I would be willing to bet that she is more outgoing, and engaging than you may be, and very comfortable with herself, and being around others.

Are you awkward around young guys, or a bit shy, yourself?

Older guys on average tend to be put off by the flighty air headed behavior a lot of younger women present... I'm going to guess you speak, dress and carry yourself otherwise in a more mature conservative manner than your peers. That to an older more experienced guy says... this one has her act together beyond just living for today and maybe tomorrow.

Your questions seem passive and self-conscious to me, a woman. I have never in my life expected guys to hit on me. My looks weren't my best attribute at all! Friendliness and interest in someone were. You will be amazed at how attractive you can be by complimenting others and showing interest in what they think and feel about life, art, books, politics, nature, sports, philosophy... and themselves, starting with childhood right up to the present.
