Once I had changed the batteries in the thermostat for my home ac/heating unit
I snapped it back into place and nothing works except for the fan. The screen is blank
And none of the buttons seem to work at all

Have you?
Verified that the new batteries are good?
Checked that they are in correction, both in direction and touching properly.
And that no wire came loose, putting it back together.
