Tell us why you want to live with your mom. How far apart do they live?

If there is a custody order in place, along with Child support... its a lot more involved than simply deciding to change where you live. Including getting family court involved. At 16 they might listen to your concerns and explanations why , but they make the final decision.

I'm guessing there's a lot going on to make you decide that you want to live with your mom. I'm also guessing that mom didn't get custody of you for a reason. Most courts favor the mom in custody battles, sad but true, unless the mom is really not fit to be a parent.

You're 16, so I'm guessing that you don't like the rules dad has in place. He probably has a curfew for you, makes you go to school, do homework, act responsibly, and you're rebelling against that like most 16 year olds. Maybe you think mom will be more relaxed about those rules.

Sadly you don't post a lot of information, so all we can do is guess.

Bottom line, the courts gave custody to your dad. If you want to live with your mom you'll have to tell your dad, and both mom and dad will have to go to court to change the custody agreement. If dad doesn't agree, mom can petition to go to court to fight for custody, and if she's proven that she's now a fit mother, she may win. It won't be as simple as you saying "I want to live with mom".

More info would be great if you want an actual answer and not just guesses.

First, unless mom and dad agree you can not just decide where you want to live.
If there is child custody or child support issues, then this would have to go though court for you to "move"

You will need to tell us, the issues, are they divorced, is there custody orders from court, and if yes, what are they.

Why are you with dad? Unless more resent, it is less common to be with dad, so they may have been issues you are not aware about also.
