    The guy is too shy?
    Hey,
So I've been talking to someone quite a bit for about six months now. We text a lot, for hours at a time and he stops in with friends at my work. He told me both sober and intoxicated that he likes me but I only get invited to drinking events or when he's already been drinking, is out and says let's all meet up (the groups we are with). We hooked up recently for the first time and later I had the guts to ask why he never asks me out sober. He says he's too shy... Thoughts? Because I'm not really sure I believe that? He has an outgoing personality so..?

Sounds more like you are going to become a booty call when he is drunk and a party friend. Sounds like he does not have a girlfriend interest, (after this amount of time)
Why are you not asking him out? If you want to move it along

I did and he was down to go, he kept bringing it up to make sure we were still on for it but I got called in to work and nothing really happened after that.

Could be he is shy and needs 'courage in a bottle'. Outgoing personality or not, he can still be shy. Some men are like that around a woman they are attracted to.

    Ask hm out again.

I'd maybe ask him out again, but I'd be leery of a guy who can only talk to me when he's drunk or drinking events are the only thing I'm asked out to.

I see a lot of problems here. Serious ones, main one is he apparently has a drinking problem, nothing good will ever come from that.

You asked him out, you couldn't go, so ask him again when you can go. How old are you both? So many young people who party/hangout with friends a lot usually do it with drink, so make some date that doesn't include alcohol, and enjoy an activity besides drinking. If you ask him out you can also control the time, place, and what you do.

If you want to get to know someone, try the phone instead of the texting. Any bowling alleys, arcades, parks, museums where you are?

Tell him to call you when he's stone cold sober, for a sober date, just the two of you- perhaps to a movie. No booze.

Stop doing the drinking thing, or trying to think this is anything other than a guy with a booze problem. No excuses.

If he can't muster up enough respect for you to see you when he is sober, I'd close the door on this dude.

Wake up. He's using you. You are only a booty call and he is not shy.. he just wants to hide his hidden intentions. He will say anything and everything to get you to go out again drinking. That's all you are to him. A toy. A piece of meat. You want that?
