I have a black gas cooktop that I love. I don't mean to offend, but this is actually a cleaning question. There is an area adjacent to one of the burners that has a fairly small amount of grease/overspill build up. I've always cleaned it weekly, at the very least, with Scrubbing Bubbles. The spot didn't go away when I cleaned it after spill and has only gotten worse. I've used vinegar, AWESOME, Polmolive Oxy (allowed to sit) to release the grease. NO, you can't possibly offend anyone here by asking about a stubborn stain under the Appliances category. I'm speaking for everyone, not something I do ordinarily.


I have a flat glass cooktop. I'm not a big buyer of cleaning products. Most of them contain the same ingredients. I've found that leaving a lot of plain old soap and water on in for several hours works better than anything. Then I sponge up all the excess, and scrub with a 3M pad. If you are dealing with a curved burner, I would apply one of the thickened products you have, cover it with a damp sponge with a weight on it, and leave it for hours. If that doesn't work --- let it go! Your buyer is going to be thrilled. Congratulations on the sale.
