Is it normal to hear my neighbor above me walking around like he's in my apt? I can hear every step from room to room. Sounds like their right here in my apartment. This is the second apartment I'm having this problem. This can't be normal? Please somebody help. I moved from the first apartment because the neighbor above walked throughout their apt all night. I couldn't get any sleep. After suffering an entire year. I moved and the real Estate agent, lied, and said all upper apts. Must have wall to wall carpet. I moved in and now I'm noticing I have the same issue. I'm going crazy. I can hear the ceiling shaking with the loud foot steps and I believe there's no carpeting either, which makes it worst. I can't be going through this, again. Is anyone having this major problem in apartments? Why are these builders buildings these very cheap condos and apts? Tenants will NOT a stay in these places for long. Please help

Its normal. You learn to live with it, or buy or rent a single family house so nobody lives above or below you.

If you want cheap rent, you deal with this... high end construction and high end sound control commands top prices because its expensive to build and that translates into top price rent. No free ride. You don't go out and buy the cheapest car available..then expect it to ride and drive like a Bentley or a Rolls Royce. You get what you pay for. Wherever you live I am certain there are higher end apartments, but be prepared to spend significantly more to live in one. They cost a lot more to build and maintain so the rent will be significantly higher. The property owner is entitled to a return on their investment. And there are plenty of people that simply can't afford to pay significantly more for the significantly more costly quieter apartment.

Been there, done that....Apartments, condos, townhouses....and that's why I eventually bought my own single family house.

You could always invest in earplugs. Been there done that.
