    Irregular period?
This is my first time posting here :)

I am 41 years old. I have been on the pill for 20 years with 2 breaks while I was pregnant (planned) My kids are 19 and 14. I always take my pills on time. Usually will or have had breakthrough bleeding some months. Never really heavy spotting though. The month of March I decided to take my next pack of pills at an earlier time in the evenings but still before bedtime, like at 8pm instead of 10 pm. I also started getting up early (5am) for workouts at the gym instead of doing them in the evenings.

I started my period a week early in March. I started the Wednesday of my last week of active pills. It was heavier than spotting because I remember using a tampon a few times, and going through a few mini pads that week. It lasted about 6 days. I usually have light periods anyway but I was done bleeding about 2 days before my usual start date during the inactive pills. I had sex 2 weeks before I started bleeding and also the day I started bleeding.

Any ideas of why the early period? Was it my period? Could I be pregnant? COuld changing up my daily routine bring an early period?

Its probably because your body is adjusting to having periods again. It's nothing to worry about.

You are 13. Please site your sources. We pride ourselves on the accuracy of our responses on this site.

To the OP, it is possible you are beginning peri menopause at your age. Around this time we will see a fluctuation of periods, i.e. coming closer together or spreading further apart until they stop completely. It would be wise of you to make an appointment with your doctor to have your hormone levels checked.

Thank you for replying. Do you think I would be seeing this changing in periods even when I take birth control pills?

Yes, it's possible to have this change when taking birth control if your other hormones are out of whack. You might want the see your doctor to have your FSH an LH tested.
