Hi all. I had a new door framed into existing wall. There is large header at top and I need to reroute electrical. Showing pic. Any ideas? "Can I reroute externally using electrical channel?

You could but in my opinion , it would look like #%^%$^.

I would route them up and through the ceiling. I would move the outlet over to the same stud that the switches are on. I would also turn it around so that it serves the bedroom. I assume the door will open into the bedroom and swing toward the window. I also would turn the outlet in the bedroom around to serve the hall. Kind of useless to have an outlet behind a door.

Don't know what the other cable serves, probably the switches and a ceiling fixture. You will have to determine that to decide how to reroute.

You will have to do drywall repair anyway, so get out your hammer and make some holes.

Thanks for the ideas. Yeah I think I will swing the door into the bedroom. Im guessing the other wire goes to the wall switch?

I am somewhat knowledgeable/handy about electrical wiring. I probed around today and I think the bottom line is that I need to route 2 wires from one side to the other.

I was thinking about leaving a 1" gap between the top header and the prehung door (I will shorten the door slightly) and can route the wiring through there.

Of course will be careful about where I nail

Does this sound doable/within code?
