My truck turns over fine, but when I let off the gas to put it in reverse, it dies. I got to the doctors yesterday, by turning it on, and keeping my foot on the gas. REALLY hard to drive somewhere like that! It is a Chevy Cheyenne, 1995, 6 cyl. 1500. I live in Nevada, and I only drive it about once a week. She is a great truck, but maybe she needs a Dr. now! Thank You

I suspect that the Ignition Control Module (ICM) is bad. It's easy to replace and costs about $50. Be sure to apply silicone heat transfer compound to the heat sink; otherwise, the ICM will not last long.

If this solves the problem, as I suspect, I would go back and change the distributor cap, rotor, and spark plug wires, if they have not been changed in 60,000 miles. High resistance in these parts often causes ICM failure.
