My wife and I both recall a movie about a present day researchers finding a WWII bomber that had crash landed in the desert. In the movie, the crew of the bomber were all ghost and each one disappeared as their body was recovered from he crash site. I also recall that the bomber crew believed they were over water when the bailed out of the plummeting aircraft. The movie came out in the early 70's
