Hi guys.

Im putting a bathroom on 3rd floor. No plumbing up there currently. I located a payh from 3rd floor floor down to 2nd floor that I can run a drainpipe To connect into 2nd floor bathroom. Few questions.


1. Can I use t connector from vertical run to horizontal run? Or some other kind of connector?

2. Should I run the vertical run straight into the horizontal run or shoild I run the new drop horizontall for a fee feet before conmecting into existing run?

3. How should I secure the vertical run? To existing studs?

1. Yes, you will use "comby" fitting ( "Y" + 45 degree bend ) to transfer from vertical to horizontal

2. Install fittings as stated above and you can run vertical run directly on top, and into, the horizontal pipe

3. There are number of ways to support vertical pipe. If you are using Cast Iron pipe than proper steel claps have to be used at each floor and ceiling plates to support the weight of the pipe. If you run ABS or PVC pipe than "plumber's tape" double wrapped around the pipe and 48" up from the ground is adequate.

Do I use the plumbers tape to tie the pie to something? Like a Stud?

Also what do you mean by 48" up from the ground? Im basically trying to go from the floor of the 3rd floor down to the ceiling of the first floor.

Looks like I need to use a 45degree wye connector to tie the vertical drainage line coming from 3rd floor to the drainage line on the 1st floor ceiling? Does it sound correct?

You will need Y and 45 glued together. They also sell it in one piece and it is called "comby" fitting. That combination of Y and 45 ( or comby ) will give you proper sweep for waste water to smoothly transfer from vertical to horizontal.
