The Task at Hand is to Install an Exhaust Fan.. The House came without a Bathroom Exhaust Fan.. I'm looking at a couple of Routes to take, laying of exhaust piping if you will and which would be the Best.. 1st would be through the Ceiling then travel approximately 6 / 8ft. To an outside wall, problem with that is the design of the Attic Space , little or no room to squeeze through the roof trusts feeding the line..? 2nd Route would be to Tap a hole in an outside wall right by the toilet at the ceiling line to run power taking this route would be a much easier task.. The bathroom has 2 outside walls... Is the later route an exceptable route?

Sure, it can be high up on the wall.

I became sort of obsessed with heat loss this winter and sealed mine over. Too much heat going right out the roof. Many icicles right outside the window. I leave the bathroom door open. All that steam can help humidify the house, and even add a little heat.

Even locking the front door each time I come in ended icicles on the gutter above it. No kitchen exhaust for me either.

You could put a foam insulation 'door' over it when not being used, but I'm still a fan of not using one in winter.

That's the Thing, I do have a Dehumidifier running during the Off Peak Hours.. New High Efficiency Furnace / 2 Speed Super Quiet Fan, with the Fan cycling... And like yourself once the Furnace is shut off for the season a Bathroom Window is kept open..

Sounds like you are going perpendicular to the truss, can you go parallel and go out the other wall?

You mean just in the summer, right (dehumidifier)?
You need all the humidity you can get in winter - even vent a dryer into the house. For all that expensive heat too! (I don't use a dryer anymore -

To run Parallel to the Roof Truss that option would be Directly through the Wall to the Outside.. Not through the Ceiling.. Previous Owners have made some Modifications to the Floor Plans and Walls hence the Roof Truss and all.. Not Much if any decent Wiggle Room in the Attic.. btw I don't know the Roof Pitch #'s..
