Can anyone tell me how the tank is sealed to the bowl? A contractor (no longer my contractor) removed my old toilet that looks just like the one in the picture and removed the tank from the bowl. There is a large (about 2") still attached to the tank, with what looks similar to a spanner nut. My question is how does the flush tube attach to the bowl assembly?

My plan is to install a new closet flange (PVC) and use a wax ring for the seal there, so the bowl attachment to the floor should be no problem.

Your post makes a lot more sense to me after I realized that it had been move from the original post you used. I wondered where Talaniman got the images.

Go back and read Mark's response to the original post and see his images. Note his image of a spud.

Note that the flush tube is attached to the tank spud with a compression nut. All logic says that the flush tube would be attached to the bowl in the same manner, with a spud and a compression nut. Indications are that your spud is no longer on the bowl or you wouldn't be asking your question. You might want to see this web site if you need to purchase a spud.
